English: This is a photo I took of a section of Maurycy Gottlieb's famous 1878 painting "Jews Praying in the Synagogue on the Day of Atonement”, focusing on the self portrait of Maurycy Gottlieb himself and his fiancée Laura Rosenfeld. The picture is taken from a reproduction of Gottlieb's painting drawn by Aharon Lorber, a Holocaust survivor from Kosice, Slovakia. The painting was donated to Congregation Habonim in Toronto after he passed away in 2010 where it now hangs on the eastern wall of the synagogue.
