Summary
editDescription | Hitomi Manaka as Lavinia in Yukio Ninagawa's production of Titus Andronicus for the RSC in 2006. The image shows an example of a "stylisied production" of the play. Traditionally, productions of Titus have fallen into two main categories - realistic and stylised. This image is a good example of a highly artificial approach to the play's violence. |

Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Titus Andronicus |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | To illustrate what is meant by a "stylised approach" to the play's violence. A large section of the "Performances" sections discusses the differences between a realistic approach and a stylised one. This image is used to represent the latter. The play is notable in being Shakespeare's most violent, and this is often noted as being the most violent scene. This image conveys clearly at a glance a good example of what is difficult to convey adequetely through textual description. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
No such free image from a modern production exists. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | Low resolution cropped image of original production - does not show anything beyond the figure of Lavinia. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
The use of the image in the article does not limit in any way the RSC from restaging the play, nor does it detract from their original production. |
