Tonkin pavilion at the 1900 Paris World fair. At the time, Tonkin was a French protectorate (France had assumed sovereignty in Indochina); the pavilion here - a replica of the Co-Loa palace in Hanoi - would host an exhibit about the industrial arts of the region.
