English: Marie Rosalie Bertaud's print is a free interpretation of Claude-Joseph Vernet's painting Le rocher percé (1765). Bertaud rearranged figures, changed the scale of figures and features of the landscape, and cropped the image in order to fit the rectangular painting into an oval format. This print displays the Thaon de Revel family coat of arms.
