Description
Español: El lienzo representa a Liuva I († 572), rey de los visigodos. El rey está representado en pie, de perfil, con el rostro vuelto hacia el espectador. Viste túnica blanca y manto carmesí y apoya su mano en un largo cetro. Liuva I, que reinó entre 567 y 572, sucedió al rey Atanagildo, y antes de ser proclamado rey en la ciudad de Narbona, había sido dux de Septimania. Con el fin de evitar conflictos innecesarios, asoció al trono a su hermano y sucesor Leovigildo, dux de Toledo, en quien delegó el gobierno de Hispania mientras reservaba para él el de la Galia. Con esta decisión tomada por Liuva I se rompió la tendencia de los anteriores reyes godos, quienes al llegar al poder intentaban afianzarse en él.
