Copper medallion d. = 47 mm Late medieval religious traditions developed suggesting that this was the house in which the Holy Family had lived while in Judea, the Nazareth house in which Mary had been born and brought up, received the Annunciation, conceived Jesus through the Holy Spirit, and had lived during the childhood of Christ. Virgin Mary with child, on top of the Holy House of Nazareth, being carried by by angels above the sea to Italy. Surrounding: "* VI · CENTENARIO · A · TRANSLATIONI · ALMAE · DOMUS * LAVRETANAE · MDCCCXIV *" / Around the Black Madonna with the Christ Child above the altar in the Basilica della Santa Casa at Loreto: "S · S · VIRGO LAVRENTANA O · P · N".
