Cette carte postale de la façade de Dar Othman montre une statuette de la Vierge dans une niche creusée au-dessus du linteau de la porte principale ; un gérant de la Société franco-africaine, qui acquiert le palais à la veille du protectorat français, a cherché à accréditer une légende fantaisiste selon laquelle il aurait été construit par des esclaves chrétiens et visité par saint Vincent de Paul.
