The text that accompanies the portrait reads:
Ana María Otilia Cegarra Salcedo. She was born in La Unión in 1899 and graduated in Chemical Sciences. She was the first female perito químico in Spain. She had her own mining-oriented chemical analysis laboratory.
She was a teacher for 40 years in different educational centers in Cartagena. Her other vocation was poetry, thus being the author of four books of poems.
She passed away in Murcia in 1993.
