DescriptionMarguerite Arosa (1853-1904) - Chez le docteur Beni Barde (1887) (engraving).png
English: Based on the title, you might ask what kind of doctor this young lady might be visiting au naturel. Well, I looked up the name and it turns out Joseph-Marie-Alfred Beni-Barde (1834-1919) was a pioneer of hydrotherapy; so she's visiting his spa. What better excuse, outside mythology, for depicting a nude figure?
The original painting undoubtedly shows more detail, but sadly this engraving, from a Paris Salon catalogue illustrée on Internet Archive, seems to be the only surviving version of the image.
