Marquette Park
Gary, Indiana
Architect: George W. Maher and Sons
Built as a shower/bathroom/changing facility, but by the 1960's the facility had fallen into major disrepair. In 1971 the building was closed to the public and boarded up. Rescued from demolition, a group has been trying to restore and revamp the structure. The building is one of the earliest examples of pre-cast concrete modular construction with 90% built from only six basic cast blocks, a precursor of today's standard concrete block.
