    Summary

    Description
English: 8th-century Merovingian script sample, from F. Steffens's Lateinische Paläographie (1929), from an evangelary conserved at Autun. According to Bibliothèque de l'École des Chartes: Revue d'érudition, consacrée spécialement à l'étude du moyen-âge, 29e année, tome 4ème, sixième série (1868, Paris: Librairie A. Franck), page 217 (Google Books), this manuscript (no. 3 in the "1849 catalogue") is valuable as it is a rare pre-11th century work with a stated year of composition, AD 754, useful as a paleographic sample of a specific time, even if the monastery of composition is unknown. The manuscript shows a pre-Carolingian type of hand.
