English: Moushumi has lived in many places since her childhood, including Shillong, Shantiniketan, Kolkata and London, and extensively travelled in Bangladesh, and learned music from her teachers, gramophone records and tapes and encounters with people. She began writing songs in Bangla nearly two decades ago and has recorded with labels such as HMV and Times Music. Moushumi’s voice and music have a great power to move and some of her compositions such as Jessore Road and Shopno Dekhbo Bole have become like anthems for the Bengali people
