Description
English: Drawing of Nord antenna, a type of folded monopole umbrella antenna used by the US Navy. It consists of a grounded metal tower radiator, fed by a feedline attached to the top, with three guy wires at 120° angles attached to the top of the tower acting as a capacitive topload, running diagonally to three support poles 1/3 the height of the tower a, connected to the ground through tuning capacitors ("guy termination units"). This is used as a transmitting antenna in the LF band. Using a 300 - 400 foot tower, the feed resistance can be varied from 20 to several hundred ohms. It has inductive reactance, varying up to 1400 ohms
