Summary
| Description | This is the principal library for the island of Orkney and one of its specialties is the provision of genealogy services to the throngs of Americans who arrive keen to prove they are "Scottish" and a like army of Scots keen to prove they are "Vikings". But alas the library was closed today so I could not quite put this to the test though from the people I met on the island I think there is a small germ of truth in this. Sorry I couldn't get in, it looks a grand library and rather outclasses its counterpart in Stromness. |
