Summary
DescriptionOld hydro electric powerplant - Harte - Kolding - Denmark (7).JPG |
English: Harteværket is a hydroelectric plant in Harte,Kolding, which was built in the years 1918-1920 and is Denmark's first major hydroelectric plant.
Harteværket started towards the end of the first World War, in order to meet the growing need for electricity. The architect was Ernst Petersen and construction workers employed around 350 workers. The water for the plant comes from Donssøerne, which was formed by the damming up Vester Nebel stream and Alminde stream. The water is running from Donssøerne down to the plant's turbines through channels and a 80 meter long tube with a decrease of 25.4 meters. Flowing 6,000 liters of water through the pipes every second. After the natural recreation of Vester Nebel stream in 2008, the water supply to Harteværket was reduced by 60%, but still produced electricity. Harteværket, which today serves as a working museum. The original turbines from 1920 produces 1.8 kWh. hour, depending on the amount of water. In 1992, it supplied about 1% of the electricity consumption in Kolding. Most of the equipment inside, is from the time it was buildt.
