The front upper surface of the engine and pylon are visible; parts of the engine cowling have been torn away by impact forces, and the turbocompressor housed in the forwardmost part of the pylon (powered by engine bleed air and used to pressurize the aircraft's cockpit and cabin) has partially separated from the top of the engine (remaining attached by some piping and hosiery to the pylon structure behind it) and can be seen near the bottom of the image one-third of the way from the right edge. The takeoff had to be rejected due to the loss of engine power; the aircraft ran off the runway into a marsh, caught fire, and burned out, but the three flightcrew were able to escape with only minor injuries.
