Summary

Description The monument on Maungakiekie is important in its honouring of both the Maori people of Tamaki-makau-rau and John Logan Campbell, one of the first European settlers of the area and 'Father of Auckland City'. Although it has been in place for only 50 years it has achieved a significant visual and historical importance to the people of Auckland, Maori and Pakeha.
