DescriptionOperation Dragoon Ride Day 4 (16749080029).jpg
English: The road march, known as “Dragoon Ride” that 3rd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment will conduct is the capstone event of their latest participation in Operation Atlantic Resolve (OAR). As part of their OAR mission, the squadron has spent the last few months living and training alongside allied forces in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland. Since Army Europe’s Land Forces OAR mission began in April 2014, it has focused on improving the ability of NATO allies to work and operate together. This road march is a demonstration of that improved ability. It will traverse more than 1,800 kilometers, cross five allied borders, and include the participation of each nation’s armed forces as the convoys travel across each country.
For those participating in it, Dragoon Ride is a unique opportunity. Soldiers and their leaders will have numerous opportunities to engage with local communities along the route and deepen their appreciation for the cultural diversity within the alliance. It will also allow units to test their maintenance and leadership capabilities while simultaneously providing a highly-visible demonstration of our commitment to our NATO allies, and the ability of alliance member-states to work in close cooperation to allow military forces to move freely across allied borders.
