DescriptionPalace of Westminster (14096758065).jpg
English: This is photograph shows the Palace of Westminster with the Denny D2 Hoverbus going upstream from Westminster Bridge. Thames Launches operated the Hoverbus on routes between Tower Bridge and Westminster in the summer of 1963. Developed by the William Denny and Sons in Dumbarton, it was their final hovercraft before they went into receivership later in that year. The Hoverbus carried 70 people, adults for £1 each and children for 10 shillings. It was advertised as a sightseeing craft as well as a bus, but spray obscured the large windows. Two days after the inaugural trip on 1 July, it was taken out of service for two days for repairs after it hit driftwood causing damage to the sidewall and propeller.
