Patricio Aylwin Azócar (n. Viña del Mar, 26 de noviembre de 1918) es un político democratacristiano y jurista chileno. Fue presidente del Senado de 1971 a 1972 y primer mandatario de su país durante el periodo comprendido entre 1990 y 1994. Aylwin fue el primer presidente democráticamente electo tras el golpe de Estado del 11 de septiembre de 1973, en el que fue derrocado Salvador Allende y se instauró la dictadura de Augusto Pinochet. Así, el mandato de Aylwin dio inicio al periodo conocido como la Transición y el primero de los cuatro gobiernos consecutivos de la Concertación de Partidos por la Democracia. |
