"Copie d'après une gravure de G. Edelinck pour l'ouvrage "Les Hommes illustres qui ont paru en France pendant ce siècle, avec leurs portraits au naturel" édité de 1696 à 1700. Fait partie d'un ensemble de 94 portraits d'académiciens commencé en 1685 à l'initiative de l'abbé de Dangeau, alors directeur. Collection de l'Académie française. Saisie révolutionnaire. Envoyé au musée des Monuments français le 3 juin 1795. Remis au bibliothécaire de l'Institut le 12 septembre 1803. Donné par l'Institut à Louis-Philippe pour les Galeries historiques de Versailles en 1839 ; collection Louis-Philippe. 1850 : aile du Nord, attique, salle 141 dite "des Académiciens". 1855 et 1861 : aile du Midi, attique, salle 152. Mentionné en réserve, 15 février 1967. Dépôt à Paris, Institut de France, Académie française, le 22 juillet 1987."
