There are several other photos of Pearl Reaves online, but this one shows her holding her guitar. Female performers who played guitar and sang lead with male backup musicians were rare in the 1950s. The photo also shows the Paul Farano Trio with whom she performed for decades. Farano was her husband. (Interracial marriages were also unusual in 1950, being illegal in literally half the states in the U.S.)
