DescriptionPhysiotherapy now, next stop - school (6301592477).jpg
Shakila, aged 5, was born with a short leg and is from a family of five children.
She is receiving physiotherapy treatment at a Red Cross clinic in Kabul which is supported by aid funding from the UK.
Her mother heard about the clinic via other people in her community. The family could not afford to pay for treatment, and are grateful for the free support that the hospital is giving them.
Shakila's older brothers go to school; her mother is determined that Shakila will as well.
UK aid is supporting the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to run a network of seven orthopaedic centres across Afghanistan to assist those affected by mobility disabilities, including hundreds of mine victims.
