Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_69694_Copy of DSC_9543.JPG Notes: מגדל דוד הוא הכינוי שניתן למצודה אשר הגנה במשך אלפי שנים על העיר ירושלים. למרות שמה של המצודה הקשר בינה ובין דוד המלך הנו קשר סמלי ושמה זה ניתן לה בתיאוריו של יוסף בן ממתיהו את ארמונו של המלך הורדוס אשר שכן במקום. המצודה שוכנת מעל נקודת ההשקה של גיא בן הינום ונחל צולב. נקודה אסטרטגית זו היוותה עילה להקים ביצור במקום במטרה להגן על העיר ממערב. במהלך ההיסטוריה היה למצודה חלק מרכזי בהגנת העיר והיא שימשה מרכז שלטוני וצבאי. כיום שוכן בה מוזיאון לתולדות ירושלים.ויקיפדיה Location: מגדל דוד בירושלים |
