DescriptionPit on Long Sough (geograph 3905651).jpg
English: Pit on Long Sough. A sough is a tunnel constructed to drain a mine, in this case a lead mine. The flow in the soughs was used to supplement the natural streams to power the water mills. In this case there is a confluence of two culverts, and the flow then passes through a sluice before flowing out in another culvert.
