Deutsch: Ein Polyedergefüge bildet sich abiotisch durch Quell- und Schrumpfdynamik in lehm-, schluff- und tonreichen Böden. Auffälligstes Erkennungsmerkmal sind scharfe Bruchkanten.
English: A blocky structure developes abiotically due to periodic swelling and shrinking in loamy, silty and clayey soils. It is characterized most evidently by sharp edges.
Русский: Блоковая структура развивается абиотически за счет периодического набухания и усадки в суглинистых, пылеватых и глинистых почвах. Наиболее ярко для него характерны острые края.
Français : Une structure polyédrique se forme, de manière abiotique (sans intervention du vivant), par la simple dynamique de retrait-gonflement des sols superficiels argilo-limoneux riches en argile. Le caractère d'identification la plus remarquable est la formation de bords de cassure net et presque tranchants quand le matériaux se rétracte en séchant.
Ce type de sol, originellement plutôt imperméable et favorisant une lente circulation horizontale de l'eau entre les feuillets de l'argile (surtout si le sol contient une forte proportion d'argile et tant qu'il reste saturé en eau). En cas de dessication, il devient alors momentanément percolant ; les racines de plantes peuvent alors s'y infiltrer, et ensuite durablement permettre une circulation verticale de l'eau, au détriment de la zone humide superficielle s'il elle existait en surface (en fonction du relief (géomorphologie) et de la pluviométrie.
