Summary
DescriptionPomp and Circumstance (29912385960).jpg |
Sir Hamar and Lady Margery Greenwood arriving for the opening of the Ulster parliament. We have not had a photograph from the Hogan Wilson Collection for quite a while. We know the names of two of the people and I am looking forward to being acquainted with some of the others we see here. From today's contributions we learned a little more about the location (likely the northern side of Belfast City Hall) and main subjects (the Viscount and Margery Greenwood). The formation of the Parliament of Northern Ireland was a major event towards the end of the war of independence, and Greenwood (then "Chief Secretary for Ireland") was a controversial but significant political figure at the time....
