The "Prosperity Matrix" showing average unemployment rate and real (inflation-adjusted) hourly wages for production & non-supervisory workers, for presidents from LBJ to Biden. Data for January 1964 to August 2024. Biden had the best readings on both measures among these presidents.

Source data for the graphic is from FRED. Each president is measured with February of their first term as the starting point, and January of their successor's first year as the end point.
