DescriptionRazing Of The Union Station Passenger Waiting Station.jpg
English: "Razing Of The Union Station Passenger Waiting Station featuring construction cranes and view of The Smith Brothers Hardware building in the background. This is the third Union Station to be constructed on the site. It was designed by architect Daniel Hudson Burnham and opened in 1897. The Beaux Arts style entrance facade was at street level on North High Street. The passenger boarding platforms were at track level, with passenger waiting areas and ticket offices on the second floor, and railroad offices on the third floor. The entrance facade was razed on October 22, 1976, but one surviving arch with its Corinthian columns and classical sculpture was saved and moved to its present location at Arch Park in the Arena district. The main station building was razed in 1979."
