DescriptionRedcar 1st railway station (site), Yorkshire (geograph 6556457).jpg
English: Redcar 1st railway station (site), Yorkshire Opened in 1846 as the terminus of the Middlesbrough & Redcar Railway, this station closed in 1861 when it was superseded by the current station on the extended line through to Saltburn.
View west from the High Street. The larger building centre-right beyond the clock tower covers the site of the end of the train shed. The building immediately to the left of it stands on the site of the entrance hall. After the station closed, it was converted into the Central Hall and later a cinema. The whole block was swept away in 1966 to be replaced by the buildings in the image.
