English: The Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, as it was from June 16, 1729, when Providence Plantations County was renamed Providence, Rhode Island County was renamed Newport, and Kings County was created from Providence, to February 17, 1747, when Rhode Island gained from Massachusetts Bay, with Providence and Newport gaining, and Bristol County being created.
