Author or copyright owner |
The photographer is unknown; they are not individually credited in NME (at least, not on the cover or on any pages scanned onto the fansite) nor in Marcus O'Dair's book Different Every Time, where the image is reproduced. The original publisher was NME. It is possible that Wyatt or his record label at the time, Virgin Records, hold the rights to the image. |
Source (WP:NFCC#4) | The source for this version of the image is The Wire issue 261, Nov. 2005, p. 52 (link behind subscription paywall). The image can be found (with a blue tint) in the packaging of the live album (album page at Discogs, image at Discogs).
The photo was originally published as the cover of the 24 August 1974 issue of NME. The NME cover (with the NME logo and magazine layout) can be found at this Robert Wyatt fansite. The same image was also used as the event poster, also overlaid with text, which can be found at the same fansite. |
Date of publication | 24 August 1974 (as published on the front cover of NME) |
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Theatre Royal Drury Lane 8th September 1974 |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The image serves to illustrate the band assembled for the concert, as well as the marketing strategy adopted after Wyatt began using a wheelchair following his 1973 fall and paraplegia. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
The image is not replaceable. As of the time of this upload, most of the band members pictured are alive, but some have died (Windo and Feza). The band assembled for this show was unique to its time and place. The poster promoted a rare, significant concert and has received commentary in its own right as an image. It has both historical and aesthetic significance. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | The image is lower-resolution than the original, scaled to less than 0.1 megapixel per WP:IMAGERES policy recommendations. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
This is a low-resolution version of the image that does not interfere with the copyright holder's ability to make commercial use of the image. |
