DescriptionRoutemaster Heritage Trust open day, Twickenham bus garage, 1993.jpg
English: The Routemaster Heritage Trust base in Cambridge Road, Twickenham, during an open day in 1993. The trust was set up to provide secure accommodation for Routemaster and other bus restoration and preservation projects.
The trust's first premises was this former London Transport garage, (code AB). Dating from 1912 it was closed by LT in 1970. It was re-opened by the trust on 17 October 1992. The trust also held an open day on 27 March 1994. After London Transport sold the Twickenham building for redevelopment, at the end of May 1994 the trust moved to the former Norbiton (NB) garage for eight months, which was also due for demolition. Luxury apartments now occupy the Twickenham site. The trust was later renamed the Classic Bus Heritage Trust.
The 2 buses in the centre are on the left, Routemaster coach RMC1476 (reg. 476 CLT), and on the right, Routemaster bus RM2107 (reg. CUV 107C), both undergoing restoration having been bought for preservation in March 1993 and July 1992 respectively. The RMC came from London Coaches' red painted training fleet (hence the L-plate). The RM's last use was in the Clydeside Scottish fleet, and the remnants of their red & yellow livery are still evident. The trust also housed at least one other ex-Clydeside bus at this time, RM291 (reg. VLT 291).
Far left is RMA13 a former BEA Front Entrance Routemaster fitted with a standard RM blind box, while on the far right is an LT class ex-London Transport bus, possibly RTL845 (reg. KYY 815), with small green bus behind it.
