Summary

Description
English: Rubbing of the Jin dynasty bilingual stele recording the names of successful candidates for the degree of jinshi in the imperial exams of 1224 (女真進士題名碑). This side of the stele gives the text in Jurchen script, and the other side originally gave the text in Chinese, but the Chinese text was removed, and a new inscription engraved during the early Ming dynasty. The stele was originally erected at the site of the examination hall, at Yantai 宴台, outside the east gate of the capital city of Kaifeng, but was moved to the Confucian temple inside Kaifeng in 1829, and since 1962 it has resided at Kaifeng Museum. The Jurchen text on the lower part of the stele has now been almost completely obliterated, so this early rubbing is extremely important as it shows the entire Jurchen text complete and clear.
