English: Ruins of lifeboat station, Formby Point. Britain's first lifeboat station was here by 1776 - see the Formby Civic Society website http://www.formbycivicsociety.org.uk/learning/full_article.asp?storyid=10 . In 1793 when rebuilt it was 100 yards above high water - now it is at high water. It was a lifeboat station until 1918. The building was used as a cafe, and was demolished in 1965.
