Description

Agios Nikolaos and scenes from his life second half of the 17th century, 24.5x30cm. Theodoros Poulakis (?) In the central part of the image is Saint Nicholas sitting on a marble throne decorated with reliefs of full-length prophets in monochrome. In the golden depth, Christ and the Virgin Mary offer him the gospel and omophorion, according to the tradition based on the saint's life. Around him there are ten icons with episodes from his life and the miracles of the saint. Facing from above to the right, the saint is ordained a bishop, thrown into prison, released by order of Constantine, destroys the idols, participates in the Council of Nicaea, brings food to the merchant in Myra, saves the generals from execution, appears in his dream Konstantinos and Avlavios, rescues the sailors and in the latter, the Assumption of the Saint is represented.
