Nederlands: Andries Boelens, burgemeester van Amsterdam en koopman is wellicht de eerste Amsterdammer die ooit geportretteerd is. Het oorspronkelijke portret zou gemaakt kunnen zijn rond 1496, toen Boelens - zoon en kleinzoon van een burgemeester - zelf voor de eerste maal burgemeester van Amsterdam was geworden. Hij zou nadien dit ambt nog veertien maal bekleden. Het portret is waarschijnlijk een kopie naar een eerdere beeltenis van hem op een schilderij met een religieus onderwerp. Een aanwijzing hiervoor is het feit dat Boelens blootshoofds is afgebeeld. Bekend is dat de familie Boelens enkele schilderijen aan het toenmalige Karthuizerklooster heeft geschonken - Andries zou de eerste geweest kunnen zijn. Op een dergelijk schilderij zou Boelens zich in een religieuze context hebben kunnen laten afbeelden, zoals dat in de 15de eeuw bij de zelfbewuste leden van de elite gewoonte werd.
