Description

The Scelbi computer used the Intel 8008 microprocessor. The Scelbi-8H hobby computer was a kit with 1K of memory and sold for $500 The Scelbi-8B business computer was assembled with 4K of memory and sold for $850. The memory could be expanded to 16K bytes. They were produced from March 1974 to December 1975 and about 200 units were sold.

The principal designer, Nat Wadsworth, developed serious health problems and while in the hospital he started writing a book, Machine Language Programming for the 8008. The book was more profitable than the computers so the company discontinued the hardware products.

This Scelbi-8H computer was displayed by Jack Rubin at the Vintage Computer Festival 7. This was held at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, November 2004.
