English: Maeklong Railway Market, commonly known as Talad Rom Hoop, is unique and one of its kind as it is located next to Ban Laem-Mae Klong railway, or it can be said that it is literally on a train track. The market, with a length of approximately 100 metres, has been operational since 1984. Every morning, all vendors will put up their stalls under colourful canvas umbrellas to keep off the sun or rain for shoppers. Most of products sold here are fresh and dried seafood. As soon as the siren signals the arrival of the train, all vendors will quickly pack their goods and prepare to close/retract their awnings from the train track as the train passes by. Once the train is gone, everything returns to normal in a blink of an eye. The daily routine of vendors “Closing umbrellas”, or otherwise “Umbrellas closed” reflected its nickname. This charming and of course a true heart pounding experience is awaiting for all visitors. The market is open daily from 06:00 to 18:00. There are 8 trips on the train schedule, being: 06:20, 08:30, 09:00, 11:10, 11:30, 14:30, 15:30, and 17:40.
