Español: Este escudo utiliza los elementos de su predecesor: El león pardo sobre un campo plateado portando la concha dorada del peregrino con la cruz de Santiago (elementos que da el nombre a la ciudad), cuyo timbre es una corona dorada con 5 puntas. Para su segunda versión se añadió el nombre completo de la ciudad y el año de fundación, el lema dedicado al dogma mariano por el que se le conoce a España como mayor defensor del mismo, armamento y trofeos; y una floritura cuyo color sobre abunda en el amazonas.
