Scramsax.png (287 × 524 pixels, file size: 96 KB, MIME type: image/png)

An illustration from Richard Burton's The Book of the Sword, 1884, comparing a Hallstatt-era with a Viking Age fighting knife.

Burton labels both weapons as Scramasax. In current terminology, the Hallstatt-era weapon would not be considered as falling under this term, which is usually reserved for Roman era to early medieval weapons.
