Summary

Seal attributed to the 1st Earl of Douglas. The seal is of dubious authenticity. It would represent the earliest depiction of the heart in the Douglas arms, but it is considered "very questionable" by heraldists. (McAndrew, Scotland's Historic Heraldry, 2006, p. 141)
