English: Shide Corner, near to Newport, Isle of Wight, Great Britain. The A3020 Ventnor to Newport road runs across the foreground with the B3401 to Carisbrooke running away from the camera. The river Medina runs under the bridge by the lamp post and behind the tyre depot. Its route is closely followed by the old Sandown to Newport railway line, now a cycle route but only as far as this point.
Shide Corner here is generally reckoned to be the centre of the Isle of Wight, although a look at any map suggests it is a little too far north and east.
