On distingue environ dix-sept hommes et une femme à bord. Le mari de Mme Hopkins travaillait pour la compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson et Mme Hopkins accompagnait son mari lors de ses voyages. Sur le tableau, une femme apparaît à gauche du pagayeur avec une chemise bleue. Probablement un auto-portrait de Mme Hopkins.[1]
