English: The effective collection area of a flat-panel solar collector varies with the cosine of the angle of misalignment (i.e. angle of incidence) of the panel with the Sun. Quite high levels of misalignment can be tolerated without significant power loss: less than 1% at 8° and less than 10% at 25°. Power collected drops off rapidly beyond misalignment angles of around 30°, with 30% power loss at 45°, 50% loss at 60° and 75% direct power loss at 75°.
