DescriptionSouth Australian Railways 400, 820, 300 class 'Red Hen' railcar consist (NRM 251-338-s74-17).jpg
English: South Australian Railways400, 820, 300 class 'Red Hen' railcar consist, donated to the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide in December 1996 (NRM 251-338-s74-17). The silver-roofed colour scheme was the original scheme when the class was intorduced in 1955, but to cut costs the SAR later painted the roofs black (after a short-lived experiment with grey roofs) and ultimately the same red colour as the rest of the body. At this latter stage, the original carnation red was succeeded by a browner colour shown in this photo.
