DescriptionSt. Patrick's Memorial church, Saul - geograph.org.uk - 269924.jpg
English: St. Patrick's Memorial church, Saul. It is said that St. Patrick consecrated his first church at Saul in 432. It seems that a subsequent monastery was destroyed more than once by Vikings. Another church was consecrated in about 1149. There have been several more since then. The present one dates from 1932 when it was built (of Mourne granite) to commemorate the 1500th anniversary of the landing of St. Patrick in Ireland. It is a CoI parish church and is the scene of a special service each 17th March. See also 760822.
