Summary

Description
English: Sunderland (Fawcett Street) railway station (site), Tyne & Wear
Opened in 1853 as the terminus of the North Eastern Railway's branch line from Penshaw, this station closed in 1879 when it was replaced by the current Sunderland (Central) railway station. View north west across the site towards the city centre. The site has been comprehensively redeveloped - the railway line ran from left to right across the image, but about four storeys below the level of the car park! Just out of view to the far right, a plaque on the wall marks the former station entrance.
