English: Mezcal Mexikói Étterem, Tapas Bar, Mester utca 14, Budapest Hungary. Taken on the 18th of November, 2016. Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine. Tapa: small piece, tapas: many. They may be cold (such as mixed olives and cheese) or hot (such as chopitos, which are battered, fried baby squid). In select bars in Spain, tapas have evolved into an entire, sophisticated cuisine. Patrons of tapas can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. In some Central American countries, such snacks are known as bocas. In Mexico, the vegetarian varieties of similar dishes are called "botanas". It was served originally in spanish inns. Inn-keepers promoted their dishes and beers in this way, as supper was served only after 9 PM. Made only from local ingrediences: bread, olive, vegetables, cheese maybe a small slice of ham but later became more sophisticated.

A tapa, többes számban a tapas eredetileg a spanyol ivókhoz kötődik. A hagyomány szerint ugyanis ezeken a helyeken jöttek létre ezek a kis összeállítások. Van aki szerint kenyérszelettel vagy vékony sonkával takarták le a vendégek a sörüket, italukat, mások szerint az élelmes kocsmárosok készítettek különféle kóstolókat, hogy jobban fogyjon az alkohol. Lehet, hogy a meleg déli országban a napközbeni étkezések helyett ilyen kis falatokkal verték el az éhüket az este kilenckor, sőt akár még később kezdődő családi vacsorákig. Eredetileg olajbogyó, kenyér, zöldség, sajt és esetleg egy kis szelet sonka tette ki az ital mellé kínált falatkát. |
