Summary

Description
English: The 'Spiral Stone', Crowtrees lane, Rastrick. Grade II listed, and considered to be contemporary to the cross base in the churchyard. The spiral is said to be reminiscent of a Bishop's crozier and therefore possibly marking an ecclesiastical boundary. However why should such a boundary be in the middle of a township, and why is it in Crowtrees Lane, which was not the medieval main road?
